FAQ
Mindfulness Group w/ Dr. Bira
Where do I park / Where do I go?
The best place would be the La Gloria Restaurant parking lot, located at 100 East Grayson Street, San Antonio, TX 78215. From there, you can take the entrance to the river by La Gloria, take a left, and you'll see the amphitheater on your left (water on your right) after walking 50 feet. Stop when you see the grass hill with rocks on your left, right before Hotel Emma. You can also walk from the parking lot toward the entrance of Hotel Emma and take a right onto the grass, where you will see the amphitheater opening up to the river. What should I bring with me? Yourself, your openness to new experience and $10. Some people bring yoga mats to put on the rocks but most don't. If you're coming during the Farmers Market, bring a bag for your produce and goods! |
Where is it?
Mindfulness groups are held in the outdoor amphitheater on the riverwalk at The Historic Pearl, as pictured to the left. The amphitheater is built with rocks on a grass hill with restrooms to the back, overlooking the river. It is between La Gloria and Hotel Emma. The nearest address is La Gloria at 100 East Grayston Street, San Antonio, TX 78215. When is it? I hold groups once or twice a month on Saturday or Sunday mornings from 10:15-11 (during the Pearl Farmers Market) and sometimes on a weeknight at sunset. Keep up with the Mindfulness at Pearl Schedule and Facebook / Meetup to know exactly when it is being held. What is it? Mindfulness is a brain exercise. Just like we can see changes in our muscles if we begin to lift weights, we can feel changes in our mood, attention span, and stress levels if we train the brain to be serve us better. Mindfulness practice has been shown to be one of the best things you can do for your brain. What can I expect? A relaxing time that will make you think and grow. I discuss a self-growth topic for a few minutes and sometimes people chime in. Then we do a mindfulness exercise - sometimes breathing, sometimes walking, always nature-based. I keep it fresh by doing a slightly different mindfulness approach each week. Just be open to the experience and come on out! Do I need to know what mindfulness is? Not at all. Most of the people who attend are beginners and many have never practiced mindfulness before but want to check it out. We use skills that can be approached in a range of ways, and it's all about what you make of it. |
